JForum (also known as JForum2) is a powerful forum software built as a Java web app. It is localized in numerous languages, and only needs a Servlet 6 compatible servlet container running on Java 11, and one of a variety of databases to run on. It is open source licensed under the BSD, and lives on SourceForge.

A slightly older build for javax.servlet, JForum 2.8.3, is also available. It requires a Servlet 3.1 compatible servlet container (like Tomcat 9) running on Java 8. The feature set is almost identical to the newer 2.9.0, but it is no longer being developed.
